SUBJECT:  Distinguished Staff Award

  1. General
    The Distinguished Staff Award recognizes meritorious service by a member of the Cleveland State staff and is open to all regular, full-time employees in good standing other than those classified as executive administrator or faculty.  The award recipient will receive an honorarium provided by the Cleveland State Community College Foundation and a plaque during the commencement ceremonies.
  2. Nomination Process
    Any employee of the college or student, except members of the Selection Committee, can nominate a member of the staff by submitting a nomination in writing to the office of the President.  Each nomination form should address all four criteria areas:  job performance, professional development, college service and community service (see Attachment A).  In addition, a personal information sheet will be sent to each candidate for completion and then reviewed by committee.
  3. Selection Process
    A seven-member committee will review the nominations and will award points based upon the criteria (see Attachment B).  The nominee with the greatest number of points will be awarded the Distinguished Staff Award.  The committee is composed of the college president, the President of the Foundation, the Human Resource Director, the previous year’s Distinguished Staff award recipient, the previous year’s Distinguished Faculty Award recipient, the Staff Senate president and the President of the Student Senate.

DISTINGUISHED STAFF NOMINATION FORM

 

Any full-time employee with at least one year’s service to the college is eligible for nomination.  The candidate should have demonstrated to the college above and beyond the norm.  The candidate should be dedicated to the college and a commitment to excellence.  The selection committee will consider the following criteria when determining the award recipient:  Job performance, including integrity, initiative, attitude, work habits, quality of work, dependability, ability to work with others (1-75 points); Professional development, including workshops or seminars, degrees/certifications, courses (credit or non-credit) (1-5 points); College service, including committee work, work with student organizations/activities, or other college-related functions (1-10 points); and Community Service, including community and/or public service, charity or other organizations/activities (1-10 points).
