SUBJECT:    Computation of Years for Prior Service, Tenure and Promotion, Leave, Longevity Pay and Service Awards

  1. Previously Accepted Years Service
    1. Teaching Experience
      1. A year consists of an official academic year as designated by the institution.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in pay status more than 50 percent of the month).
    2. All Prior Service Except Teaching
      1. A year consists of twelve satisfactory months.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status more than 50 percent of the month).
  2. Tenure and Promotion for Faculty
    1. Faculty on Academic Year Contract
      1. A year consists of an official academic year as designated by the institution.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or a major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status more than 50 percent of the month).
      3. Faculty on initial employment will be credited with August if in a pay status for more than 50 percent of the month of September of the initial year of employment.
    2. Faculty on Fiscal Year Contract
      1. A year consists of twelve satisfactory months.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status more than 50 percent of the month).
  3. Leave
    1. Annual Leave (Not Applicable to Academic Year Personnel).
      1. Eligible employees earn and accrue annual leave for each month upon completion of a major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status more than fifty percent (50%) of the month).
    2. Leave Other than Annual Leave - see TBR Policy No. 5:01:01:01.
  4. Longevity Pay
    1. Faculty and Full-time Non-faculty Personnel on Academic Year Contract
      1. A year consists of an official academic year as designated by the institution.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status more than fifty percent (50%) of the month).
      3. The Longevity Anniversary Date is adjusted to reflect any unsatisfactory months.
    2. Fiscal Year Personnel
      1. A year consists of twelve satisfactory months.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status for more than 50 percent of the month).
      3. The Longevity anniversary date is adjusted to reflect any unsatisfactory months.
  5. Service Awards
    1. Academic Year Personnel
      1. A year consists of an official academic year as designated by the institution.   
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status more than 50 percent of any month, August through May).
    2. Fiscal Year Contract Personnel
      1. A year consists of twelve satisfactory months.
      2. Satisfactory month - completion of month or major fraction thereof (i.e., be in a pay status for more than 50 percent of any month).
