SUBJECT: Appropriate Library Patron Conduct
The Cleveland State Community College Library is committed to the health and safety of both employees and patrons, as well as to providing a facility where activities generally associated with libraries may occur. The Library is a designated public forum where patrons are expected to engage in activities associated with the use of a public library or with their course of study at CSCC. Patrons not engaged in reading, studying, researching, tutoring, using library collections, using library technology, or attending a library sponsored function may be required to leave the building.
Patrons shall respect the rights of other patrons and library staff and shall not:
- harass or annoy others through noisy or boisterous activities;
- stare at or stalk other patrons or library staff;
- play audio equipment, use cell phones, or use other electronics so that others can hear it;
- or otherwise behave in a manner which reasonably can be expected to disturb other patrons.
Children must be accompanied and supervised by adults at all times and are expected to maintain the established behavior standards.
Other inappropriate building uses include bathing, shaving, washing clothes, gambling, panhandling, soliciting, and sleeping. Behaviors such as running, climbing; physical or verbal abuse; sexual behavior; inappropriate use of computers; or inappropriate language or cursing will not be tolerated. Animals (with the exception of service animals), alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, illicit drugs, and weapons are not allowed in the building in accordance with Cleveland State and/or TBR regulations.
All individuals identified by College Library personnel as exhibiting such unacceptable behavior will be asked to cease the behavior or leave the library, according to the procedures outlined in Guidance Letter A-025.
