What is Technology Essentials Technical Certificate?

Technology Essentials Certificate prepares students for entry level careers in large manufacturing companies for multi-craft industrial machinery as operators or associates. The curriculum includes computer basics, technical math and precision measuring tools and common manufacturing processes. Courses place emphasis on safety, teamwork, communications skills and efficient work practices.


What will I learn?

Upon completion of the Certificate, the graduate will have developed the skills and knowledge and abilities including basics in math tools needed to do the calculations for their job, understanding of the terminology and processes of modern manufacturing processes, basics of computer applications, and common safety practices as used in modern industry.

What are my options to pay for this degree?

  • Apply for financial aid at www.FAFSA.gov
  • A student is encouraged to apply early for financial aid. He/she must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the FAFSA Renewal Application as soon as possible after October 1 to ensure that the Financial Aid Office receives the Institutional Student Information Record and other documents prior to the priority deadline. July 1st is the priority deadline for applying for the fall semester and December 1st for the spring semester.

    • ENST 1300 - If you have Math Learning Support requirements, then you may want to register for MATH 0300 to satisfy these requirements, especially if you are in a program that requires PHYS 1030 or CHEM 1010.
    •  
    • GRADUATION - Apply to graduate by completing the online Intent to Graduate form. This can be found under the Graduation Tab within the Registration Tools and Forms on Cougarnet. You will need to schedule to take your exit exam and/or program test at mycs.cc/testing. These will be taken in the Testing Center.

  • CONGRATULATIONS! After you complete this semester's courses and maintain an overall 2.0 GPA, you will be a Cleveland State Graduate!
  • Work with your advisor to discuss the possibility of continuing on to complete a more advanced technical certificate or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electro-Mechanical, Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics.

Be sure to check your Cleveland State email daily for deadlines, announcements, and award updates for the academic year. Please see your success coach or enrollment specialist to make sure you are in good standing or if you have any questions.
