CPE Course Descriptions

CPE 1010 Cooperative Education I - 3 credit hours
Supervised employment or volunteer experience in a position related to the student’s major (150 hours). F, S

 

 

 

CPE 1011 Job Search Skills - 1 credit hours
Skills assessment, resume and letter writing, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, job applications, networking and dressing for success. F, S

 

 

 

CPE 1012 Succeeding on the Job - 1 credit hours
Personal and professional development to improve communication, time management, problem solving, teamwork and customer service skills on the job. The course will also address the importance of initiative, attitude and work ethics in the workplace. (Students who earn credit for CPE 1012 may not also earn credit for CPE 2000.) F, S

 

 

 

CPE 1013 Practical Job Success - 2 credit hours
Personal and professional development through practical application of the skills developed in CPE 1012. A minimum of 150 hours of work in a job that is unrelated to the student’s major is required over the semester. Supervisory evaluation required. (Prerequisite: CPE 1012. Students who earn credit for CPE 1013 may not also earn credit for CPE 2000.)

 

 

 

CPE 1015 Workforce Development - 2 credit hours
Personal and professional development through on-the-job experience and coursework to develop communication, time management, problem solving, teamwork, and costumer service skills on the job. The course will address the importance of initiative, attitude, and work ethics in the workplace. Components of the course include a minimum of 75 hours of supervised employment experience. Students receive two credit hours (one instruction and one cooperative education experience.) Students may not also register for CPE 1012 or 1013. F, S

 

 

 

CPE 1020 Cooperative Education II - 3 credit hours
Supervised employment experience (150 hours). F, S

 

 

CPE 2000 Workforce Development Co-op - 3 credit hours
Personal and professional development though course work and on-the-job experience. Components of the course include a minimum of 150 hours of co-op experience. (Students in CPE 2000 may not sign up for CPE 1012, Succeeding on the Job or CPE 1013, Practical Applications for Job Success.)
