Acceptance to this training program is based upon compliance with all State Laws and Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission Guidelines. Full time Law Enforcement Officers are admitted to the program first, based upon P.O.S.T. mandates regarding law enforcement officer certification.
Candidates for the Academy are advised to well prepare themselves physically prior to actual attendance.  Physical standards that must be met for graduation will be provided along with other application.  We provide limited assistance in locating lodging since housing is not provided by Cleveland State Community College or the Academy.  Students who do not live in commuting distance have access to two local motels in close proximity that have, in the past, provided lodging, double occupancy (7 day week) at the rate of $65-$100 per person, per week.
Successful completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Course provides eligibility for the student, at the request of his/her employing law enforcement agency, to be certified by POST as a full-time police officer.  In addition, CSCC will grant 22 college credits to successful graduates.
