Direct Transfer Agreement Between
CLSCC and Lee University

Cleveland State Community College (CLSCC) and Lee University (LU) hereby enter into the following agreement governing the matriculation at Lee University of Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree graduates from Cleveland State. This contract shall commence on June 1, 2002 and continue for a period of four years, after which both institutions will undertake re-negotiation of the agreement. The parties to this agreement hereby agree to the following terms and conditions herein set forth.

For Cleveland State graduates with the Associate's degree during the period of this agreement, Lee University will agree to the following:

1. Accept CLSCC graduates who have earned either an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree with a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average for direct transfer.

2. Give admissions priority to CLSCC graduates provided they apply for admission on or before July 1 of the academic year prior to the date of enrollment. Students applying for direct transfer should submit an application for admission and an official college transcript to Lee University's Office of Admissions. The application fee is waived.

3. Accept all approved courses for transfer (see equivalency list attached). Students who transfer with 60 or more transferable credit hours will enroll with junior status.

4. Apply equivalent credits earned at CLSCC toward the applicable general education requirements at LU. A document is attached showing general course equivalents.

5. Provide religion courses through its External Studies Program for CLSCC students who may want to complete some of the LU required religion and/or philosophy courses while enrolled at CLSCC.

6. Provide a course-by-course transfer evaluation transcript to the applicant showing courses transferred, number of credit hours earned and transfer grade point average. The LU Director of Academic Services will be the contact person for questions regarding transferable credit.

7. Require students to complete a minimum of 60 semester hours at the senior college level and a minimum of 130 semester hours in order for the bachelor's degree to be conferred from LU. Some CLSCC transfer students may be required to complete prerequisite coursework for the specific programs in which they seek enrollment.

8. Provide financial assistance to CLSCC students provided funds are available and the student qualifies for such financial assistance.

Cleveland State during the period of this agreement with Lee University will agree to the following:

1. Publicize the Direct Transfer agreement among the faculty and students.

2. Make available the recommended general education requirements of Lee University and the course equivalency list to all faculty members, counselors, and students requesting such at Cleveland State.

3. Announce, arrange, and provide facilities for admissions personnel to have conferences with CLSCC students who are interested in transferring to LU after 60 hours of college credit is earned.

Both institutions during the period of this agreement will agree to the following:

1. Each institution is obligated to notify the other of changes in curricula, degree requirements, and admission requirements.

2. It is to be understood that the two institutions are entitle to make changes and additions to the agreement that such alterations be made only after consultation with the academic deans and registrars of Cleveland State and Lee University no later than January 1 preceding the academic year of the changes. If the Tennessee Board of Regents mandates curricular changes, such changes will take effect according to the TBR mandated date.

In the event that either institution finds it necessary to cancel the Direct Transfer Agreement, notification must be made in writing at least one year preceding the date of termination.
