The nursing program at CLSCC is to provide students the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes necessary to enable them to be eligible for the licensing exam for registered nurses. The program prepares graduates to assume entry-level staff positions in a variety of healthcare settings and equips them to meet the health needs of individuals in the community.

PROGRAM
The Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nursing is a two-year program which includes the summer term following the freshman year of study.(Cleveland State offers both an Associate Degree and a transition option for Licensed Practical Nurses.)

CLINICAL/LABORATORY
Clinical and laboratory experiences are an integral and important part of the curriculum for the nursing program at Cleveland State. Cleveland State Community College’s program is well supported by local health care facilities which provide practical application of skills and knowledge

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHEC / DRUG SCREENS
Criminal background checks and drug screens are required at the affiliated clinical sites for training. Based on the results of these checks, an affiliated clinical site may determine to not allow your presence at their facility. This could result in your inability to successfully complete the requirements of this program. Additionally, a criminal background may preclude licensure or employment. TRANSFER
The Nursing Program is not designed for transfer to four-year colleges and universities, although many institutions accept all or part of the course work toward the baccalaureate degree.

ADMISSION
Admission to the Nursing Program is highly competitive and is based on an applicant scoring tool which evaluates the student’s readiness for entry to the program. Applicants must first be accepted for admission to Cleveland State before applying directly to the Nursing Program. Applicant’s must complete an admissions application, provide transcripts of all high school and/or previous college work, or provide a GED equivalency diploma and a copy of GED test scores. Nursing students must also meet certain academic criteria to successfully progress in the program.

FINANCIAL AID
Students enrolled in the nursing are eligible to apply for grants, scholarships, and loans.
