Graduation Information & Procedures


Students who have completed at least 48 credit hours are encouraged to review their transcript closely with their academic advisor to determination graduation status. Full time students who have a 2.0 GPA, and have successfully completed 48 credit hours towards a specific major in a two-year program, should be near completion of graduation requirements

The graduation application should be completed during the semester preceding the semester of anticipated completion of requirements. Students must file the application for graduation by the deadline for the intended graduation semester as outlined in the college calendar. Students may choose to graduate under the provisions of the catalog in effect the year they entered Cleveland State Community College or subsequent years in which they were enrolled, provided the catalog year is within seven years of the graduation date. A graduation fee is required of graduates seeking a degree or certificate regardless of participation in commencement activities. The graduation application is processed through the Admissions and Records Office.

  • The final 25 percent of semester credit hours applied toward a degree or certificate must be earned at Cleveland State Community College.
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in college level coursework is required of graduates. This does not include transferred credit hours from other institutions.
  • The minimum number of semester credit hours required for a degree graduate is 60. Required credit hours vary with certificates and other A.A.S. degrees.
  • Complete all course requirements as outlined in the curriculum. Complete any required testing
  • All deficiencies identified through ACT or COMPASS testing must be
    resolved
  • All obligations to the college must be resolved

Could you graduate with honors?
Highest Honors - GPA of 3.80 to 4.00 High Honors - GPA of 3.6 to 3.79 Honors - 3.30 to 3.59

To receive the Honors Achievement Designation, a student must complete 18 hours of Honors course work with an overall average of B or higher while meeting the associate degree requirements, and have a 3.25 GPA at graduation. A student eligible for Honors Recognition Award must complete 12 hours of Honors course work with an overall average of B or higher (including one hour of Honors Colloquium) while meeting the degree requirements, and have a 3.25 GPA at graduation. The transcript at degree completion will carry an "Honors Recognition" notation. (GPA is based on grades at the end of the semester prior to the semester of graduation)
