Baseball Signees 2008-2009

Ben Booker

Right Handed Pitcher

Knoxville, TN

East Tennessee State University

Ben came to Cleveland State from Knoxville Central High School where he was coached by Danny Sharp.  Booker was a main part of the pitching staff his freshman season as he was labeled our closer at the beginning of the year and finished in the same position.  Booker went 2-0 with a 5.25 ERA, 6 saves in 31 innings with 34 strikeouts.  For his sophomore season Booker has adjusted to being a starter and will be a big contributor to our success for 2009. Booker is the type of player whose work ethic should be modeled after.  He will be a great addition to the program at ETSU.

Stephen Pryor

Right Handed Pitcher

Mt. Juliet, TN

Tennessee Tech University

Stephen came to Cleveland State from Friendship Christian Academy where he was coached by John McNeal in Nashville, TN.  Had a breakout Freshman season that landed him in the MLB Amateur Draft in the 42nd round to the Texas Rangers.  During that Freshman year Stephen pitched in the conference rotation and went 7-4 with a 5.51 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 65.1 innings.  For his sophomore campaign Pryor will once again be looked upon to anchor a rotation that should be at the top of the league.  Tennessee Tech will reap the benefits of his ability and work ethic.
