For the second time in the month of March and the second time in three weeks, Cleveland State first baseman, Cody Hooper has been selected as the TCCAA Region VII Player Of The Week for the week of March 21-27.
The Cougars sophomore from Gordon Central High School in Ranger, Georgia, had an incredible weekend as the Cougars swept a big conference doubleheader from the Dyersburg Eagles in Dyersburg. The Cougars (22-11,10-5) won 10-5 and 15-5 as Hooper led the way by going 5-8 with two doubles, two homers, eight RBIs, four runs scored and a stolen base for good measure.
The Cleveland State cleanup hitter raised his season average to .423 with a league leading, 11 homers and 45 RBIs.
"Cody has really hit the ball well the past few weeks and all year," stated Cougar coach Mike Policastro. "He is a tough out and usually comes up with the big hit when we need it. He has done a tremendous job all year long." |
