Cleveland State starting pitcher Travis Tingle was recently named the TCCAA pitcher of the week for his outstanding work in the Roane State weekend (week of April 13-18) conference series. Tingle improved his ERA to an impressive 3.12 on the season as he shut out the Raiders in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday. Tingle tossed six strong shutout innings and allowed only one hit while striking out six along the way helping the Cougars to sweep the series with a nailbiting 2-1 win in the third game.

"Travis pitched really well that game, he gave up only one hit, kept us in it and gave us a chance to win, and that's all you can really ask from your starter," said Cougar coach Mike Policastro.

Tingle has been an integral part of the Cleveland State starting staff this year helping the Cougars to a 36-16 record and 18-9 in conference play. He has a 4-1 record in conference games (5-2 overall) and a 2.49 ERA in conference play. He has helped the Cougar pitching staff to a league leading 3.58 team ERA and has struck out 57 batters in 57 innings pitched including six in the 2-1 win over Roane State. The Cougar pitching staff is one of the main reasons for their number two seed in the upcoming conference tournament.  "Travis throws strikes, and he usually gets ahead of the hitters," explained Policastro. "He can throw three pitches for strikes and has good velocity on his fastball. He pounds the strike zone and doesn't give in."
