| 4/26/2008 | Chattanooga State | 11-7 Win | The Cougars officially locked up third place in the TJCCAA regular season with a rubber match win against Chattanooga State. John Bradley picked up the win on the most gutsy performance of the season. Bradley went 5.1 innings on 7 hits with 6 strike outs and 3 runs. Zach Lawson pitched 2.2 innings striking out 2 and giving up 3 hits. Ben Booker pitched the ninth and after some scare was able to close the door and wrap up the series. Andrew Root was the leader offensively going 4 for 5 with 2 runs, 4 RBI, 2B, and HR. Travis Adair was 3 for 4 with 2 runs, RBI, HR, and 2 stolen bases. Jay Huffman was 3 for 4 with a run. Will Davis was 2 for 5 with 2 runs, RBI, and 3B. Andrew Hennen was 2 for 3, 3 runs, and RBI. Chris Anselmo was 2 for 5 with 2 runs, 4 RBI, and 2 HR one inside the park. Luke Whittaker picked up the loss on the mound going 5 inning on 4 strikeouts, 5 runs, and 7 hits. Offensively Brandon Munsey was 3 for 4, Will Davis was 2 for 3, Andrew Hennen was 2 for 3 with a homerun, Ty Nelson was 2 for 3 with 2 2B, and Jay Huffman was 2 for 3. Overall Record 32-17 Conference Record 15-10 | | | 4/25/2008 | Chattanooga State | 1-0 Win 8 innings | Offense was not a big part of game two as both teams pitchers threw complete games and battled the whole day. Chattanooga's pitcher finished with 5 hits and 1 run with 14 strikeouts, and Stephen Pryor of the Cougars pitched all 8 giving up only two hits on the shutout while striking out 13. Ty Nelson scored the game winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th with the bases loaded. Brandon Munsey smoked a ball off the pitcher that they weren't able to make a play on. Andrew Root also added 2 hits. Overall Record 33-17 Conference Record 16-10 | | | 4/22/2008 | @ Wallace State | 0-8 Loss | The Cougar pitching staff again couldn't hold down the opponents early and made it tough on the offensive players. Wallace State scored 8 runs in the first two innings and that would be all the run production for both teams for the rest of the game. Ty Nelson, Travis Adair, and Jay Huffman all had two hits apiece. Overall Record 32-16 Conference Record 15-9 | | | 4/19/2008 | @ Roane State Game Three | 17-12 Win | The Cougar offense deserves all of the credit for the victory and sweep of Roane State. The Cougar pitching staff gave up 8 runs in the first inning to set them well behind. The Cougar offense battled and kept chipping away at the lead by scoring 2 runs in the third, 1 in the fifth, 3 in the sixth, 3 in the seventh, and 8 in the top of the ninth inning to retake the lead and seal the win. Andrew Root and Jay Huffman had 4 hits with Root having a 3 run homerun and a triple. Travis Adair and Will Davis had three hits apiece. Ty Nelson and Andrew Hennen added two apiece. Drew Housewright picked up the win in relief on 3.1 innings with no runs, one hit, and 4 strikeouts. Overall Record 32-15 Conference Record 15-9 | | | 4/18/2008 | @ Roane State Game One | 15-9 Win | The Cougars jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after three innings and extended it to 8-0 after 4.5 but the Cougar pitching staff once again squandered the lead late in the game on 5 walks and two homeruns in an inning. John Bradley picked up the win in relief on 1.1 innings and 2 strikeouts. Every Cougar had a hit and only one didn't have more than one hit. Andrew Hennen homered twice and Andrew Root hit a grand slam. Overall Record 30-15 Conference Record 13-9 | | | 4/18/2008 | @ Roane State Game Two | 12-4 Win | Luke Whittaker pitched 5 solid innings to manage the game and the offense was able to explode for 12 runs on 12 hits. Travis Adair was 3 for 3, and Ty Nelson, Will Davis, and Anthony Lymberopoulos all had two hits. Andrew Root hit his second homerun of the day. Overall Record 31-15 Conference Record 14-9 | | | 4/15/2008 | Wallace State-Hanceville | 9-8 Win 10 innings | The Cougars were again able to rally after being down early in the game. Wallace State jumped out to an early lead but the Cougars responded with a 4 run 3rd inning and a 4 run 8th inning. Travis Borum laid down a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the 10th that was thrown up the right field line and pinch runner Anthony Lymberopoulos scored the winning run. Zach Lawson got the pitching win in relief. Will Davis and Andrew Root both homered. Overall Record 29-15 Conference Record 12-9 | | | 4/13/2008 | Dyersburg State Game Three | 2-15 Loss | After a big win in game two the Cougars could never get going in game three. The Cougars were down three runs before they even got to hit and could never overcome the deficit. Ty Nelson and Travis Adair had two hits apiece. Overall Record 28-15 Conference Record 12-9 | | | 4/12/2008 | Dyersburg State Game One | 2-9 Loss | The Cougars could not hold down Dyersburg's lineup as they scored 9 runs on 3 big homeruns and the offense never found a way to really get started. Stephen Pryor took the loss while Brandon Munsey, Will Davis, Andrew Hennen, Ty Nelson, Andrew Root, Cory Stooksbury, and Chris Anselmo all had one hit a piece. Overall Record 27-14 Conference Record 11-8 | | | 4/12/2008 | Dyersburg State Game Two | 4-3 Win 13 innings | The Cougar pitching staff was able to hold off the opponents hitters by throwing 10 straight zeros after giving up three solo homeruns. The Cougars finally scratched a run across in the 13th as Travis Borum got on base by an infield single and Andrew Hennen got the game winning RBI with a single to left field. Ben Booker picks up his second win while throwing 5 innings on no runs and 3 strikeouts to pick up the win in extra innings. Overall Record 28-14 Conference Record 12-8 | | | 4/8/2008 | @ Truett-McConnell Game One | 13-7 Win | The Cougar bats picked up right were they left off on the weekend pounding out 13 runs on 15 hits. Brandon Munsey, Andrew Hennen, and Andrew Root all had three hits. Travis Borum, Travis Adair, and Will Davis all had two hits. John Bradley picked up the win in relief going 4.1 innings on 3 hits, no runs, and a strikeout. Travis Adair was a perfect 5 for 5 with 4 runs and 4 RBI. Adair had a double and home run as well. Brandon Munsey was 2 for 5 with 2 runs and stolen base. Travis Borum was 2 for 5 with a run and RBI. Andrew Hennen was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and an RBI. Andrew Root was 3 for 5 with a run, 3 RBI, 2B, and HR. Ty Nelson was 3 for 5 with 2 runs, 5 RBI, and HR. Luke Whittaker picked up his 3rd win of the year in relief of Jay Bolen. Whittaker went 5 innings on 4 hits, one run, and 2 strikeouts. John Bradley pitched a scoreless 7th inning. Overall Record 25-12 Conference Record 10-7 | | | 4/6/2008 | @ Motlow State Game Three | 11-5 Win | The Cougars finished out the three game series the same way they started by pounding 14 hits and 11 runs. The Cougars had 10 homeruns on the day and 7 in game three. Brandon Munsey was 2 for 5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI, and 2 HR. Travis Borum was 3 for 4 with 3 runs, 3 RBI, and 2 HR. Munsey and Borum hit back to back homeruns twice, once in the fifth and then again in the seventh. Travis Adair was 1 for 3 with a 2B. Will Davis was 1 for 4 with a RBI 2B. In game on the Cougars pounded out 13 hits and 7 runs to win game one. Travis Adair was 3 for 5 with 2 runs, RBI, and 2 2B. Will Davis was 2 for 5 with a run, RBI, and 2B. Andrew Hennen was 2 for 5 with a run, and 2 RBI. Anthony Lymberopoulos was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and a 2B. Travis Borum was 2 for 5 with ab RBI 2B. Brandon Munsey and Ty Nelson also added a hit. On the mound Stephen Pryor got back to early season form with his 6th win of the year on 6.2 innings pitched with 1 earned run and 8 strikeouts. The offense found a way to score in every inning except for two on the day. Travis Borum was 3 for 5 with a run and RBI. Ty Nelson was 2 for 3 with a run and RBI. Cory Hilton was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI. Justin Ridenour was 2 for 4 with a run. Brandon Munsey hit with a run and RBI. Travis Adair hit with 3 runs and RBI. Will Davis hit with a run and RBI. Cory Stooksbury hit and run. Anthony Lymberopoulos had a 2B. Overall Record 23-12 Conference Record 8-7 | | | 3/28/2008 | Columbia State Game One | 8-5 Win | The Cougars broke the offensive funk they were in earlier in the week by throwing 8 runs on 11 hits. Travis Adair was 3 for 4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI, and a 3B. Will Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, and a 2B. Andrew Hennen was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and Cory Stooksbury was 2 for 3 with a run and RBI. Ty Nelson and Anthony Lymberopoulos also added a hit apiece. Stephen Pryor picked up his fifth win of the year in relief of Zach Lawson. Pryor went 5 innings surrending only a bunt hit with 4 strikeouts. Ben Booker pitched the ninth to record his conference leading sixth save on the year. Overall Record 23-11 Conference Record 8-7 | | | 3/26/2008 | Tennessee Wesleyan JV Game One | 1-0 Win | Luckily for the Cougars the run scored in the first inning was enough for the win as the bats went silent all day. The Cougars managed only 3 hits in the first game. Will Davis, Andrew Root, and Sam Waltermyer were the three with hits. On the mound Jay Bolen was outstanding once again running his record to 5-0. Bolen went 6 innings on 4 hits with no runs, no walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ben Booker pitched the seventh inning to pick up his 5th save of the year. Overall Record 21-11 Conference Record 7-7 | | | 3/26/2008 | Tennessee Wesleyan JV Game Two | 4-3 Win | The Cougars scratched through another victory while not playing their best game. Ty Nelson lead the offense with 2 hits a run and RBI. Travis Borum, Travis Adair, Will Davis, Andrew Root, and Anthony Lymberopoulos all added hits. Drew Housewright picked up the win on the mound, Luke Whittaker pitched three solid innings, and John Bradley picked up his first save of the year. Overall Record 22-11 Conference Record 7-7 | | | 3/22/2008 | @ Walters State Game Two | 1-13 Loss | The Cougars were never able to get started in game two of the series. The offense managed 6 hits and a run in the contest but on the mound the Cougars struggled to get guys out. Travis Borum was 3 for 3 and Andrew Root was 2 for 2. Stephen Pryor took the loss on the mound on 2 innings, 4 hits and 6 runs. Overall Record 20-10 Conference Record 7-6 | | | 3/22/2008 | @ Walters State Game Three | 7-12 Loss | Once again the Cougars jumped out to a manageable lead and the pitching staff couldn't hold it. The Cougars went up 6-1 after the first two innings and Walters State had a 4 run third and 6 run sixth inning to take the lead for good. Offensively Brandon Munsey was 3 for 4 with 2 runs, Travis Borum was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI and Will Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Phil Mariani picked up the loss even though he had a good outing until late. Jay Bolen pitched the last 2/3 inning. Overall Record 20-11 Conference Record 7-7 | | | 3/21/2008 | @ Walters State Game One | 16-14 Win | Cleveland State opened up a 8-0 lead after their first two times at bat and then Walters State continued to chip away until they took the lead 9-8 going into the ninth inning. The Cougars offense then exploded for an 8 run inning only to see Walters State make a huge run in the bottom half. However, the Cougars were able to hold them off enough to take the first game of the series. Travis Borum had three hits and Brandon Munsey, Ty Nelson, and Cory Hilton each had two hits apiece. On the mound Zach Lawson went 5.1 innings on 8 runs and 10 hits and Drew Flaniken picked up the win on 2.2 innings with a strikeout and run scored. Ben Booker pitched the eventful ninth inning on 4 hits and 5 runs. Overall Record 20-9 Conference Record 7-5 | | | 3/18/2008 | Marshalltown Game One | 10-2 Win | Cleveland State took game one vs. Marshalltown as the offense had 10 runs on 9 hits. Will Davis was 2 for 4 with 2 runs, Andrew Root was 2 for 3 with a run and 4 RBI, Brandon Munsey, Travis Borum, Ty Nelson, Cory Stooksbury, and Chris Anselmo all added hits. On the mound Jay Bolen picks up his 4th consecutive victory on 6 innings of work with 6 hits and a strikeout. Drew Housewright pitched a scoreless seventh inning. Overall Record 18-9 Conference Record 6-5 | | | 3/18/2008 | Marshalltown Game Two | 7-1 Win | The Cougars sweep the doubleheader against Marshalltown by winning the second game 7-1. The offense was hot again for the second game banging out 8 hits for 7 runs. Travis Borum and Andrew Hennen were both 2 for 4 with a run and Hennen had 3 RBI. Brandon Munsey, Travis Adair, Will Davis, and Cory Hilton all had a hit and RBI. On the mound Phil Mariani pitched the first three inning and gave three scoreless innings on no hits. Luke Whittaker pitched the 4th through the 6th on 4 hits and 2 strikeouts. Ben Booker pitched a scoreless seventh to seal the deal. Overall Record 19-9 Conference Record 6-5 | | | 3/16/2008 | Volunteer State Game One | 2-9 Loss | The Cougars could never get over the deficit that was created after the first three inning as Vol State took a 6-1 lead with a 2 run and 3 run homerun. The Cougar offense could muster only 6 hits. Overall Record 17-8 Conference Record 6-4 | | | 3/16/2008 | Volunteer State Game Two | 2-9 Loss | The Cougars battled through a nothing nothing game until the fourth when Volunteer State threw one run in the fourth, 4 runs in the fifth, and 4 runs in the sixth. The Cougars offense had 7 hits with 2 runs scored. All offensive players except for one had a hit and Brandon Munsey and Will Davis had 3 hits. Travis Adair, Will Davis, and Andrew Root all added homeruns. On the mound Drew Flaniken picks up the win in relief for his third of the season. Flaniken went 5 innings on 4 hits, no runs and a strikeout. Zach Lawson and Ben Booker pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings. Overall Record 17-7 Conference Record 6-3 | | | 3/11/2008 | Gadsden State | 10-2 Win | The Cleveland State bats were able to pound out 14 hits with 10 runs to beat Gadsden State 10-2. Phil Mariani pitched 4 innings on 7 hits and 4 runs. John Bradley got the tough luck loss and it was his first of the year. Offensively Travis Borum and Ty Nelson both had two hits apiece. Offensively the Cougars were lead by Andrew Hennen (3 for 4 2 runs, 3 RBI and HR) and Will Davis (2 for 4 run, RBI, 2B). The Cougars bats went silent in game two as they were only able to bang out five hits. Zach Lawson threw an outstanding game going the complete game on 6 innings with 3 hits and 3 runs. Offensively Travis Borum was 2 for 3 with a run and RBI, with a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th. The Cougars jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the first inning when Travis Borum singled and Travis Adair hit a 3-2 pitch over the right center field wall. Adair finished 2 for 2 with 3 RBI. Travis Borum, Brandon Munsey, Ty Nelson, and Chris Anselmo had a hit apiece. Phil Mariani picked up his first win of the year on 5 innings of work giving up one run on 3 strikeouts and 4 hits. Zach Lawson pitched the sixth giving up one run on two hits. John Bradley pitched the seventh and eighth and gave up no runs on one hit and a strikeout. John Bradley picked up his second win of the year coming on in the 4th and allowing only 1 run. Travis Borum had a hit and stolen base, Travis Adair added a solo homerun in the fifth inning, Anthony Lymberopoulos, Andrew Root, and Chris Anselmo also added hits for the victory. On the mound John Bradley picked up his first win of the year going 4 innings on 4 hits, 3 runs, and 8 strikeouts. Nick Pierski pitched the fifth inning giving up one run on 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. After only 4 hits in game two the Cougars exploded with 14 in game three. They were lead by Will Davis (2 for 4), Andrew Hennen (3 for 5), Andrew Root (2 for 5), and Chris Anselmo (2 for 4). Drew Flaniken picked up his second win on the year by going 6 innings on five hits, 3 runs, and 4 strikeouts. John Bradley, Zach Lawson, and Ben Booker pitched the 7th, 8th, and 9th to win the game. The Cougars jumped out early but some costly mistakes in the 6th inning was not enough for the Cougars to overcome. Drew Housewright had a no decision of 5 innings pitched, 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 strikeouts, and no walks. Phil Mariani took the loss with 5 runs in 2/3 inning. Luke Whittaker stopped the scoring with 2 and 1/3 scoreless innings. Offensively Travis Adair was 2 for 4, and Brandon Munsey, Ty Nelson, and Andrew Root each had hits.
