2/9/2008Motlow State96-81 Win
Cleveland State would move into a tie with Chattanooga State for third place as they pulled away in the second half to claim a 96-81 win over Motlow State. The Lady Cougars would score 58 points in the second half in claiming their sixteenth win of the season.
It was a struggle of two evenly matched teams in the first half, as each team would have the lead in the first twenty minutes. The Lady Cougars would go into the locker room at the break with a 38-37 lead. Barbara Holland and Danielle Seeley would have 14 and 8 points to lead the team at the break.
Cleveland State would move out to a double-digit advantage midway through the final half. Leading by 14 with eight minutes to play, Motlow would cut the lead back to five, but the Lady Cougars would be able to finally finish a game strong as they went on a 13-4 run the rest of the way to secure the big conference win. Seeley and Holland would lead the way again with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Holland would lead with a game high 27 points while Seeley was right behind with 23 points. Kanita Holloway would also finish in double digits with 14 points and lead with seven rebounds. Angie Wells would dish out five assists, as Seeley would have four assists. Holland, Seeley, and Holloway each would have two steals.

2/6/2008Roane State67-70 Loss
The Lady Cougars would see a five-point lead in the final minutes would disappear, as they were unable to hold of the Raiderettes down the stretch. Leading 66-61 with just two minutes left, Roane State would outscore Cleveland State 9-1 for the win.
Cleveland State competed strongly for the first twenty minutes against the nationally recognized Raiderettes. It would put the Lady Cougars up by three, 32-29, at the half. Angie Wells would lead the team with nine points while Barbara Holland collected eight points.
The Lady Cougars would build a double-digit lead before Roane State would make their comeback. Leading 66-61, the Lady Cougars saw Roane State cut the lead to two on a offensive putback and foul. The lead would shrink to one as the visitors made good on another free throw. After a missed opportunity at the free throw line, Roane State would take the lead on a three-pointer from the top of the key. After a charging call against Cleveland State, the Raiderettes would make two free throws for the final margin.
Holland would lead the team with 24 points in the loss. Wells would add 15 for the Lady Cougars. Holland would match Ragan Elliott with five rebounds. Wells would have four assists. Elliott would have three steals to lead the team.

2/2/2008@ Hiwassee College78-68 Win
Cleveland State won their second conference game on the road as they fought off the home standing Lady Tigers 78-68. A strong defensive showing was needed in the second half as the Lady Cougars continue to struggle with their shooting.
Each team would claim leads in the first half as the Lady Cougars continued to struggle from the field. Well, everyone but Barbara Holland. She would connect on her first five shots from the field. She would have 17 points in the first half as Cleveland State would lead 41-37 at the break. The Lady Cougars would never relinquish their lead in the second half, as they would move ahead by double digits. Hiwassee would continue to make runs to cut into the lead, but they the closest they would get would be six points late in the contest. Free throws down the stretch would help Cleveland State prevail in victory.
Holland would finish with a game high 25 points to lead the Lady Cougars. She would also have three assists and eight steals for the squad. Angie Wells would also have three assists while Kanita Holloway would also be in double digits with ten points as well as lead the team with eight rebounds.

1/30/2008@ Chattanooga State44-68 Loss
The Lady Cougars couldn’t overcome shooting woes in the second half as they fell to Chattanooga State. Trailing by one, 25-24, at the half, Cleveland State couldn’t muster any offense against the Lady Tigers.
The first half was a battle of wills as neither team could gain an advantage over the other. A late three-point basket would give the Lady Tigers the advantage at the half. Danielle Seeley would score eight points in the first twenty minutes to lead the team.
The visitors would pull away late, as Cleveland State couldn’t find the bottom of the basket. The Lady Cougars couldn’t come up with a run as they suffered from another cold night from the field. The ladies managed only six made field goals in the second half.
Ragan Elliott would lead the team with nine points and nine rebounds. Seeley would be next with eight points. Kelly warden and Angie Wells would each have two assists while Wells would also have four steals. Kanita Holloway would contribute five rebounds.

1/26/2008@ Motlow State57-56 Win
The Lady Cougars came from behind and defeated the host Lady Bucks 57-56 on a last second layup to get back on a winning track. Trailing by nine at the half, the ladies outscored Motlow 34-24 in the second half for the win.
Cleveland State struggled from the field in the first half. A couple of three-point baskets from Bonnie Brooks kept the Lady Cougars within striking distance as they trailed 32-23 at the break. Brooks’ six points led the team in scoring for the first twenty minutes.
The second half had the Lady Cougars claim the lead midway through the half only to see the Lady Bucks take the advantage back with five minutes to play. The teams would swap leads until the end. Motlow held a 56-55 lead with 19 seconds remaining when Cleveland State called timeout to set up a final play. Kanita Holloway would drive to the basket with five seconds to play. She had the ball knocked away, but grabbed the loose ball and scored on a layup as time expired for the win.
No Lady Cougar would reach double figures in the win. Barbara Holland, Angie Wells, and Jennifer Harris would each total nine points to lead the team in scoring. Wells would also dish out five assists to lead the team. She and Ragan Elliott would each have three steals and four rebounds to lead the team in those categories.

1/23/2008@ Walters State44-61 Loss
The Lady Cougars went on the road and suffered their first defeat of 2008 as the nationally ranked Lady Senators defeated Cleveland State. Walters State outrebounded the Lady Cougars for the game with several offensive rebounds leading to extra chance points. Also, was the fact that Cleveland State suffered through a tough shooting night.
Cleveland State hung with the Lady Senators at the outset of the contest and only trailed 15-11, midway through the first half. Walters State would go on an 18-8 run to end the half to lead 33-19 at the break. Angie Wells had five points at the intermission to lead the team.
Walters State would extend their lead early in the second half before the Lady Cougars would fight back through the strength of their full court pressure. Cleveland State would force the Lady Senators into 21 turnovers for the contest. Kanita Holloway would have six points in the second half to lead Cleveland State.
The Lady Cougars placed no one in double figures for the contest. Holloway was the leading scorer with eight points. She was followed by Wells with seven while Barbara Holland and Danielle Seeley each finished with six points. Ragan Elliott would lead the team with eight rebounds.

1/17/2008Columbia State69-61 Win
The Lady Cougars stayed perfect for 2008 with a come from behind win over the visiting Lady Chargers of Columbia State. It would be Cleveland State’s 13th win of the season against only four defeats as they prepare for the Eastern Division part of conference play.
The fist half saw the lady Cougars take a quick lead before their visitors would get themselves back into the contest. Cleveland State would struggle late in the half allowing the Lady Chargers to take the lead going into the intermission, 31-30. Tiffany Platt would the pace the squad as she would score eight points coming off the bench.
Cleveland State would come out of the locker room and immediately take the lead. They would increase the lead to double digits early in the final 20 minutes, but see Columbia State fight their way back late with several offensive putbacks. Danielle Seeley would pace the team in the second half with 11 points followed by Barbara Holland with eight points.
Seeley would pace the team in scoring with 15 points while Holland would follow with 12 tallies. Platt as well as Kyndall Edwards and Ragan Elliott would each chip in with eight points. Holland and Elliott would lead the team with eight rebound while Angie Wells would dish out five assists while collecting three steals to lead the team in those categories.

1/12/2008Snead State70-65 Win
Cleveland State continued their winning ways in 2008 with a struggling 70-65 win over the visiting Lady Parsons. The squad would build a double-digit lead after the half, but had to hold off a hard charging Snead State squad in the closing minutes.
The Lady Cougars would grab a quick 16-7 lead before Snead would tie the contest at 19 with ten minutes to play in the half. Both teams would struggle offensively the rest of the half before Snead State would take a 28-26 advantage to the locker room. Barbara Holland showed consistency in the first half with 13 points.
The second half saw the Lady Cougars score the first eight points of the half before Snead could answer the run. The ladies would build on a lead that would grow to 12 at 51-39 with nine minutes to play. Snead would fight their way back and cut the lead to four at 58-54 with just two minutes to play. Ragan Elliott would hit a key three-point basket to push the lead back to seven, which helped preserve the win.
Danielle Seeley would respond with 17 second half points and lead the team with 19 points in the victory. Holland would be the only other lady in double digits with 16 points. Elliott would lead the team with 11 rebounds and four steals. Angie Wells would dish out seven assists.

1/10/2008@ King College JV75-63 Win
The Lady Cougars opened up the second half of the season on the road, but were able to claw their way to the eleventh win of the season as they defeated their hosts 75-63. Cleveland State would build the lead to as many as 20 on several occasions, but had to fight off the pesky Lady Tornado in the second half for the win.
Cleveland State would see nine players contribute in the first half scoring as they built a 41-34 advantage at the intermission. Jennifer Harris would pace the way with 11 points while Kelly Warden and Barbara Holland each contributed eight points.
The ladies would expand their lead after the break, but their hosts would answer with their own runs to keep the contest within striking distance. Once again, nine players contributed to the scoring column with Holland leading the way matching her eight points she collected in the first half.
Holland would lead three scorers in double digits with 16 points. She also had four assists and five steals. Harris would finish the game with 13 points and team high five rebounds. Warden would finish with ten points. Angie Wells would match Holland with a team high four assists and five steals.

12/5/2007Bryan College JV87-40 Win
The Lady Cougars placed four players in double figures as they rolled over their visitors from Bryan College 87- 40, Wednesday night. It was the squad’s ninth win of the season.
Cleveland State shot out quickly and held a 15-2 lead just four minutes into the contest. Barbara Holland did most of the damage with 13 points in those first minutes. The lady Cougars slowly built on their lead the rest of the half and led 48-13 at the break. Holland would end the half with 16 points.
The second half saw both teams struggle early to get anything going offensively. The Lady Cougars hit their stride on the hot hands of Kelly Warden who had 12 points in the second half. The Lady Lions also connected on five three pointers late to show some fight.
Holland would lead the way with a game high 18 points. Warden would finish with 17 for the contest. Both Quonisha Jackson and Kanita Holloway would finish with 12 points apiece with both pulling down six rebounds. Holloway would also have five steals in the game.

12/1/2007@ Southwest Tennessee69-81 Loss
The Lady Cougars competed with their hosts for the first ten minutes of the contest as they only trailed 16-13, but the Lady Saluquis went on a run and put away Cleveland State by the half to win 89-61.
Both teams traded leads through the first ten minutes of the game. But a run by the hosts allowed them to dial up some defensive pressure, which led to a double-digit lead. They were able to stretch that lead to 48-21 at the intermission. The Lady Cougars shot just 32.1% from the field in the first half compared to 54.8% for Southwest.
Southwest build their lead to as many as 38, 67-29, before the Lady Cougars came back on the strength of their full court press. Cutting the deficit back to down into the low 20s, Cleveland State showed their mettle in never giving up in the second half. Quonisha Jackson spearheaded the comeback with 13-second half points.
Jackson would lead the team in scoring with 15 points as well as pulling down eight rebounds. Barbara Holland would also reach double figures with 14 points. Angie Wells would have eight assists and seven steals to lead the squad in those categories.

11/27/2007@ Truett-McConnell68-59 Win
Cleveland State traveled from Cleveland (TN) to Cleveland (GA) for their contest against the Lady Bears. After a first half, which saw them dominate and then struggle; the Lady Cougars pulled out a 68-59 win for their eighth triumph of the year.
The squad shot out to a quick 8-0 lead on two Three-pointers and a layup from Danielle Seeley. They continued to run on their hosts and built the lead up to 18-6 midway through the first half. Then, the struggles came and they were outscored 19-8 in the last ten minutes and led 26-25 at they headed to the locker room. Seeley would be high with her initial eight points.
The second half saw the squad that started the contest as they quickly shot out to a double-digit lead. But, the struggles came back as they fought to maintain the advantage. Another strong push with six minutes left had the lead up to 19, but their hosts fought back again. A three-pointer and layup cut the lead back to five at 64-59 with just over a minute to play. But, the Lady Bears wouldn’t score again as the Lady Cougars had back-to-back baskets for the final margin.
Danielle Seeley led the Lady Cougars in scoring with 15 points while also collecting three steals. Kyndall Edwards also had double figures with 11 points and led the squad with six rebounds. Heather Brown had seven assists in the win while Angie Wells had four assists and five rebounds. Bonnie Brooks also had five rebounds and three steals.

11/20/2007King College JV82-52 Win
The Lady Cougars romped to their seventh win of the season as they raced out to a 22-point halftime lead on the visiting JV squad of King College before finishing off with an 82-52 victory. It was a solid way to head into the Thanksgiving break.
Cleveland State shot out to a quick lead in the first twenty minutes, but the Lady Tornado fought back and cut the lead back to single digits midway through the first half. The Lady Cougars again dialed up the pressure and pushed the margin back into double digits before going into the locker room up 41-19 at the break. Nine ladies got into the scoring column with Danielle Seeley leading the way with 12 points.
The second half saw the Lady Cougars struggle defensively as their visitors scored 33 points in the second twenty minutes which didn’t make the coaching staff too happy. It did allow for the squad to get some of the freshmen some quality minutes to gain some more experience at the college level.
All but one Lady Cougar would score in the win with Seeley leading the way with 18 points and three steals. Barbara Holland would be the only other member in double digits with 11 points as well as four steals. Ragan Elliott would be next with nine points, but had six steals in the win.

11/17/2007St. Catharine86-81 Win
Cleveland State fought back from a nine-point deficit at the half to upend the visiting Lady Patriots of Saint Catharine for their second conference win in a row. Trailing 39-30 at the break, the Lady Cougars would score the first ten points to take the lead. Big contributions from Quonisha Jackson, Danielle Seeley, and Barbara Holland were key in the second half.
Sluggish would be the best way to describe the performance of the Lady Cougars in the first half. Missed defensive assignments and missed layups by Cleveland State would propel the visitors to their nine-point lead at the intermission. Jackson had eight points in the first half to lead the way.
Apparently Jackson was just getting started as she dominated inside in the second half with 22 points. Also key in the second half was Holland and Seeley getting out of their shooting woes. And, with some humor, it took a three point field goal that banked in from each one to get them rolling. Between the two of them they would connect on seven three-pointers in the second half to support Jackson’s inside play.
Jackson would score a career-high 30 points and pull down 12 rebounds to lead the way. Seeley would be next with fifteen points, twelve coming in the second half. Holland would reach double figures with 11, all of them coming in the second twenty minutes.

11/16/2007Volunteer State78-64 Win
Cleveland State posted their second conference win of the season as they defeated the Lady Pioneers of Volunteer State 78-64. Building a comfortable 17-point lead by the half, the Lady Cougars were able to secure their fifth win of the year.
The squad jumped out early as the visitors had no answer for the inside outside game of Quonisha Jackson and Barbara Holland. Holland would lead the way with 14 points while Jackson and Tiffany Platt each scored nine as the Lady Cougars led at the half, 44-27.
The second half saw the opponents make several charges as in past contests. Cleveland State was able to maintain a double-digit lead and secure the victory. Holland added eight more points to her total in the second half.
Holland would have a game-high 22 points to lead the squad. Jackson and Platt would also score in double digits with 15 and 13 points. Jackson would lead the squad with eight rebounds and Angie Wells would pass out nine assists.

11/13/2007@ Snead State62-36 Win
Cleveland State got back on the winning track as they traveled to Boaz (AL) and defeated Snead State 62-36. The Lady Cougars were able to force the Lady Parsons into several turnovers, which led to a lead they would never relinquish for their fourth victory of the year.
The Lady Cougars took only 19 shots in the first half, but connected on 11 of them as they raced out to 36-18 lead at the break. Kelly Warden and Kanita Holloway would be the main contributors to the offense with nine and seven points.
The second half was almost a carbon copy of the first half as Cleveland State kept the pressure on the Lady Parsons. Several members of the squad scored in the second half, with no lady scoring over five points in the second twenty minutes.
No Lady Cougar reached double figures, but they were led by post players Quonisha Jackson and Kyndall Edwards with nine as well as guard Warden with nine points. Ragan Elliott would be the leading rebounder with five boards. Holloway and Alikki Thomas each had two assists.

11/10/2007@ Columbia State59-62 Loss
Cleveland State would suffer their first loss of the year as they watched the host Lady Chargers outscore them 11-0 in the last three minutes of the contest. The Lady Cougars led 59-51 with just under three minutes when missed shots and turnovers doomed them to the loss.
The Lady Cougars were slow to start in this contest as the hosts raced out to an early lead. Clawing their way back into the contest, they trailed by one, 30-29, at the break. Kelly Warden and Angie Wells led the way in the first twenty minutes with eight and six points.
The ladies quickly raced out and took the lead in the second half. It became a see-saw affair until the Lady Cougars were able to build their eight point margin with three minutes to play. Costly turnovers and quick shots led to Columbia State opportunities for quick scores. An offensive putback by the Lady Chargers would give them lead for good with 25 seconds to play.
The Lady Cougars placed no one in double figures. Quonisha Jackson led the way with nine points. Warden and Barbara Holland each ended the game with eight points. Jackson would lead the squad with ten rebounds while Wells dished out seven assists.

11/9/2007@ Jackson State76-61 Win
The Lady Cougars opened their conference season with a hard fought 76-61 victory over the homestanding Lady Generals of Jackson State. Building a 20-point lead in the first twenty minutes, Cleveland State fought off several charges by the hosts for their third victory of the year.
The first half saw the Lady Cougars catch five minutes into the contest and slowly maintain and then stretch a double-digit lead to 42-22 by the intermission. Barbara Holland was the big contributor in the first half with 12 points at the break. Quonisha Jackson, Heather Brown, and Kelly Warden each chipped in with six apiece.
The second half saw the Lady Generals quickly cut into the deficit at the start of the second half. They would get the lead down to ten with just ten minutes to play, but the Lady Cougars would respond and build the lead back to 18 before earning the 15 point win. Jackson would add another ten points in the second half to lead the squad.
Jackson would end with 16 points to lead the Lady Cougars. She also had seven rebounds in the win. Holland would also tally 16 points as the only other Lady Cougar to reach double digits. Warden would finish with eight. Angie Wells and Brown would pass out five and four assists in victory.

11/6/2007Truett-McConnell91-71 Win
The Lady Cougars coasted to a 91-71 victory in their second game of the season. Their record is a perfect 2-0, but the contest was anything but perfect. The ladies would jump out to a commanding first half lead, but rebounding woes haunted the squad for the entire game. Their opponents would outrebound them for the game.
Using a stifling press defense, Cleveland State would take a 22 point lead into the locker room at 49-27. Quonisha Jackson would lead the way with 17 points in the first half of action. Jackson was able to convert on a number of steals off the front of the press.
The second half saw the ladies struggle keeping the Lady Bears off the offensive glass. They would cut the lead down to as low as 15 before the Lady Cougars would get it back up to the final margin of 20. Danielle Seeley would lead the second half charge with eight points while Ragan Elliott would tally six, all at the free throw line.
Jackson would lead the squad in scoring as the Lady Cougars placed four scorers in double digits. Seeley and Elliott would each finish with 12 while Barbara Holland would tally ten in the win. Jackson was again the leading rebounder with 11 caroms off the glass. Jackson would also collect four steals on the night. Holland would lead the team in assists with five.

11/1/2007@ Bryan JV85-25 Win
The Lady Cougars opened the 2007-2008 campaign with a decisive victory over the host Lady Lions of Bryan College. All 16 players on this year’s roster got into the scoring column with three ladies reaching double digits in the win.
Cleveland State led from the outset taking a 52-13 lead into the locker room at halftime. Included in the first half was a push where the hosts were never able to get the ball into their scoring area. Freshman Bonnie Brooks came off the bench to lead the team at the half with 12 points. Sophomore Quonisha Jackson was next with 8 points.
The second half saw the Lady Cougars work on their zone defense. Subbing freely, the ladies outscored their opponents 33-12 in the last twenty minutes. Barbara Holland would tally eight points in the second frame to lead the squad.
Brooks finished with 14 points to lead the team in scoring. Sophomore Danielle Seeley would finish with 13 while Holland followed with 12 points. Jackson would lead the squad with six rebounds, and Angie Wells and Seeley would have six and five assists, respectively. The ladies had 29 steals for he game with Seeley collecting six of them.
