Financial Aid

Consumer Information

--- Please review the following information ---

Award Notification

Your electronic award notification certifies that you are planning to attend CSCC.  If after reviewing the award notification, you decide NOT to attend CSCC, it is necessary for you to notify the Admissions/Records and Financial Aid Offices in writing.  In addition, if your classes are not dropped in a timely manner, you may be liable for a portion of your tuition and fees.  If you fail to attend all classes through the official last date to add a class, you may owe a repayment to the Department of Education.

Federal PELL Grant Recipients

Your FPELL Grant Award will be credited toward your tuition and fees.  If your award is not enough to cover the cost, then it is your responsibility to pay the balance by Aug. 19.  Your classes will be canceled if you do not complete the payment process with the Business Office by Aug. 19 at 4:30 p.m.  FPELL, FSEOG, and Stafford Loan credit balance checks will be available after you have attended all classes and verification of attendance is confirmed by your instructor(s) electronically.

Loan Recipients

Loan funds will not be available until the first week of class.  Therefore, if you receive only a loan, you have two options for paying your tuition and fees.
Option 1: Come by the Financial Aid Office Aug. 14, 15, 18, or 19 to complete a Loan Pending Form or
Option 2: Make payment to the Business Office for tuition and fees by Aug. 19.  This can be done either by paying the full amount or using the Deferred Payment Plan.  Contact the Business Office for more information about this option.  If you choose to sign up for the Deferred Payment Plan, then Loan pending would not be an option.
Please note:  A one semester loan will be made in two disbursements – the first at the beginning of the semester and the second one at mid-point of the term.

Loan Recipients must have instructors verify attendance in all classes before being allowed to pick up Student Loan Checks.  Attendance verification is now an electronic process.

Fee Payment on Registration Day

If you have responded to your notification, then your financial aid information should be available at the Business Office the day you register.  If your aid is not enough to cover tuition and fees, you will be required to make arrangements with the Business Office regarding payment of the balance.  All financial aid applicants who have not received an award notification should come to the Financial Aid Office prior to going to the Business Office.

Books

Books are purchased through the college bookstore at the beginning of each semester. The cost of books is approximately $900 per year. Students should plan to pay cash or charge the books to a national credit card. Financial aid funds in excess of tuition and fees are not available at the beginning of the semester as a cash refund or voucher to be used for the purchase of books.

Tennessee Student Assistance Award

Tennessee Student Assistance Awards (TSAA) are available late in the semester and may not be used for tuition and fees or books at the beginning of the semester.
