  • Provide academic guidance, teach, and tutor students in all disciplines that require a writing component, including those who need additional language support (ESL).
  • Schedule lab classes and tutoring sessions, answer the phone, and conduct any necessary orientation sessions (i.e. R/D software, MLA instruction).
  • Provide assistance to the instructor during lab classes as determined by the Department Chair.
  • Prepare quizzes and tests, supplementary handouts, and study guides as appropriate or as needed for tutoring sessions.
  • Store copies of current syllabi and other course materials provided by instructors.
  • Organize lab materials and maintain lab facilities and inventory.
  • Review source material and provide input in decision making for selection of software, videos, and textbooks for the lab and for designated classes.
  • Share in evening (and possible weekend) responsibilities in the total operation of the Language Arts Learning Center.
  • Participate in professional development meetings, workshops, committees, and conferences.
  • Attempt to keep up with the latest research in composition theory, and basic, developmental, disabilities, and ESL pedagogy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean of the Division.

SALARY RANGE:   $16, 670 - $20,840

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a language-related area from a regionally accredited institution.
