The successful candidates, in a supportive technical assistant role to the reporting supervisor, will assist students, staff, and faculty in meeting the needs of learners through efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of personal computers, related hardware, software, and network servers and services over the local area network (LAN).
- Installs, maintains, moves, repairs, and troubleshoots various computer equipment, such as desktops, laptops, tablet PCs, servers, copiers, scanners, printers, switches, routers, wireless access points, and wireless capable devices.
- Assists technology users with troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining currently used hardware, operating systems, and application software.
- Knowledge of current operating systems, such as Windows XP SP2, Active Directory and experience with current wireless protocols.
- Manages and troubleshoots network and local PC file and print services.
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally more, and ability to push and/or pull a cart loaded with equipment.
- Ability to install connecting cables (copper and fiber) such as from desktop PCs to network equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks to perform job duties which may involve bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing (ladder) as necessary.
- Ability to travel to remote teaching sites and off campus training. A valid driver’s license is required.
- Ability to provide customer service oriented support. Involves working well with the various constituents of the college and with other OIT staff.
- Ability to work nights and weekends on rare occasions as required.
- Ability to adapt to changing technology by keeping necessary skills updated to the college’s evolving technology environment.
- Performs other duties as required and directed by supervisory channels.
*POSITION IS FUNDED BY THE STUDENT’S TECHNOLOGY ACCESS FEE AND WILL BE REVIEWED ON A YEAR-TO-YEAR BASIS.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in informational technology or related area and one year recent and relevant experience with PC maintenance, networks, and operating systems required. A+ certification preferred and other certifications related to position desired. All documentation of degrees and certifications must be submitted with application.
SALARY RANGE: $24,672 - $30,840 + benefits package
