ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

1. What percentage of campus courses use electronic information to enhance courses (syllabi, reading lists, discussion groups, demonstrations)? 35%
2. Are technology resources available, used effectively to enhance the learning experience, and designed to prepare graduates in their majors for successful technology use in their careers? Yes
3. What library resources are available on-line? Periodical databases and catalog of holdings are available on-line.
4. What electronic reference materials are licensed and how accessible are they from outside the library? A variety of library materials is accessible via the Web through the Cleveland State Library homepage.
5. How does the college help students develop computer skills? Free workshops, individual assistance, introductory through advanced applications courses, general education computer literacy courses.
6. Does the college allow students to receive credit for courses taken electronically from other sources? Yes, provided the source maintains college-level regional accreditation.
7. Does the college have a specific computer/informational technology competency requirement for all students? All students seeking a degree from Cleveland State must satisfy a computer literacy requirement, usually an introductory course, in order to graduate.
8. Are course reserves and other materials available on-line/via the Web site? Yes, explained by instructors at beginning of courses.

ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE


11. What information about admissions and financial aid is available online, and can necessary forms be submitted electronically? Admissions and financial aid information is accessible and printable via the college website. Federal financial aid forms can be completed online. Electronic admissions and registration is available.
12. Is the college catalog, including important campus policies, available on the Web? Yes.
13. Can a student access personal student information and data online? Yes.
14. Can a student find out about grades online or by phone? Yes.
15. Can students pay bills, receive loans, and make campus bookstore purchases using online procedures? Tuition and Fees can be paid online.
16. What campus and community services are covered by "smart cards" or "debit cards." Fees may be paid by approved credit cards. The College does not issue cards.
17. What student information does the campus provide routinely to parents? Academic information is not released to parents without the student's authorization. SOCIAL EXPERIENCE
18. What percentage of students have full-time use of personal computers? 100%. All students have free access to open computer laboratories, where Internet and email is available. Students are entitled to a free account upon request.
19. What access to computers is provided? A student may find an available computer at practically all times the college is open.
20. What percentage of students use email and other software applications on a regular basis? Estimated at over 80%.
21. Does the college allow personal student web pages? Students are invited to participate in workshops and to receive individual assistance on web page development, and pages are included in certain computer courses. Students may submit personal pages for inclusion on the college homepage, but acceptance is a college prerogative.
22. Is contact information for students, faculty, and staff readily accessible electronically? The college provides a faculty and staff directory online, but not an individual student directory.
23. Is there a college code of behavior for use of computing resources? Yes. The policy is presented in the Student Handbook section of the Catalog and posted in all computer laboratories. 24. What social activities and services are available over the Web? A detailed student calendar of activities and events is maintained on the college website. Links for more information are provided.
25. Are there Web sites for student organizations and clubs, and are these linked to the college homepage? All recognized student organizations are welcomed to develop and maintain pages within general college-wide guidelines. Links are encouraged.
26. Is there a "technology fee" charged by the College? How much is it? What does it cover? Each student must pay a $5 per credit hour ($62.50 maximum) Technology Access Fee each semester of enrollment. Revenue from the Technology Access Fee (TAF) is used to purchase and maintain technology related to student instruction and to assist students in the use of technology.
27. Are students required to purchase their own computers? How does the college make computing and network access financially available to all students? Does the college charge more for access to off-campus locations? Students are not required to have their own computers. The College provides open labs at no cost to students. There is no charge for student access to college computer labs at off-campus locations.
28. If students bring their own computer to the College, what support can be expected? The College will assist students in resolving a variety of routine problems and will answer questions regarding equipment. The College normally does not install or repair personal equipment.
29. What hardware and software standards does the College require, recommend, and/or support? The College will try to assist all users.
30. What kind of services are provided by the College, and during what hours of operation? The College Help Desk is located in Room A-218, Administration Building, and is open 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Additionally, each computer lab has an assistant on-duty when the lab is open. The Center for Instructional Computer Technology provides individual assistance and also schedules numerous workshops to promote computer skills among students.
