Testing Services - GED Testing Policy
1.GED applicants must be 17 years or older at the time of testing.
2.All applicants are required to take the Official Practice Test (OPT) at a local Adult Education Office.

3. After you have taken the Official Practice Test and met Adult Education’s testing requirements they will issue you an OPT Form certifying that you have taken the practice test.
4. If an applicant is enrolled in an Exit Option Program within a high school, the high school will supply the student with an Exit Letter, a Testing Authorization Form and an OPT Form in order to register to take the Official GED Test.
5. Applicants who wish to take the Spanish version of the GED Test are not required to take the Official Practice Test at this time however, it is strongly encouraged.
6. Once applicants have acquired all the necessary documentation, along with a state issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.) can register for the Official GED Test at Cleveland State Community College’s Testing Center. This registration must be done in person and prior to the intended test date. Our offices are open for registration during the following times:
Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The test is administered twice a month as listed below:
Wednesday session 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – full test battery or
Monday 4:30 to 8:30-Science, Social Studies and Reading
Tuesday 4:30 to 8:30-Writing and Math
7.The cost for taking the Official GED Test is $65.00 or $13.00 per section if retaking part of the test. The Testing Center has a no refund policy regarding applicants who do not show up for a scheduled test day. A phone call prior to the scheduled test date may allow an applicant to reschedule for a future test date a maximum of one time depending on the circumstances. If the applicant cannot make it to their rescheduled test date they will have to reapply and repay the testing fee.
