Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment

What is dual enrollment?

Through the Dual Enrollment Program, eligible students can earn both high school and college credits simultaneously for a variety of college courses prior to graduation from high school.

What are the advantages of dual enrollment?

The Dual Enrollment Program makes it possible for you to earn college credits while also getting a head start on your college curriculum. This allows you more flexibility during your freshman year of college, increases your chances for success and saves you money.

Who is eligible for dual enrollment?

To be eligible for enrollment in this program, you must:

  • Be classified as a junior or senior in high school
  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • You must have an ACT composite score of at least 19 and a sub-test score of at least 19 in the subject that you wish to take or compatible SAT scores (at least 910)
  • Additionally, you must meet the entry-level requirements for the course to be taken as outlined in the college catalog

How much do the courses cost?

Through the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant program funded by the Tennessee Lottery, students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment Program are awarded $300 toward tuition and fees (payable as $100 per credit hour) each semester up to a maximum of $600 per academic year. Costs not covered are the student's responsibility.

For continued eligibility for the Dual Enrollment Grant, you must maintain a 2.75 cumulative college grade point average.

Courses taken through the Dual Enrollment Program do not count against the attempted hours available through the HOPE scholarship.

Where are the courses offered?

Courses may be taken at the following locations:

  • At your high school in coordination with Cleveland State Community College. CSCC serves all public and private high schools in Bradley, Polk, McMinn, Meigs and Monroe Counties.
  • At any of our three campuses in Cleveland, Athens or Vonore.

Will credits transfer to a four-year university?

In most cases, college credits earned through the Dual Enrollment Program will transfer to a four-year institution; however, you should check with your university of choice or talk with an advisor at CSCC prior to enrollment in the program.

What classes may be taken through this program?
