Dual Enrollment Program

Criteria for Dual Enrollment Eligibility

To participate in the dual/joint program, students must be cleared by their high school administration/guidance office and meet the college’s dual student admission requirements. Requirements are as follows:

A. Criteria for General Education Dual/Joint Enrollment

  • Classified as a junior or senior.
  • Cumulative 3.0 high school GPA (based on a 4 point scale) or a 4.0 in the previous four semesters in the subject they wish to take.

If a student does not meet the ACT or ACT Plan composite or sub-score requirements they may challenge their scores to try to become eligible:

ACT Residual Test - If a student has taken the National ACT test and does not meet the 19 composite score requirement to be eligible for dual enrollment, they may schedule to take the ACT Residual test through our testing center to try again to qualify. Call (423) 614-8734 to schedule an appointment. There is a $30 fee associated with the test. Also there is a 60 day grace period between taking the National ACT and the Residual ACT and vice-versa.

COMPASS Test - If a student met the 19 ACT or ACT Plan composite score but did not meet the 19 in the sub-score area of the course they wish to take, they may take that section only of the COMPASS Test to try to qualify.
