Cleveland State to Host Tennessee Promise Saturday / Open House on Oct. 1

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Cleveland State Community College will be hosting its Tennessee Promise Saturday on Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m – 1 p.m. in Room 108 of the Career Education Building on the main campus. Also, on the same day, there will be an open house from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center. The open house is for high school seniors, as well as students who have already graduated high school. Whether you have never attended college or have worked for a while, but desire a career change, this day is for you! The CSCC Athens Center is also hosting a similar event from 9 – 11 a.m. on the same day.
Representatives from academic departments, Financial Aid and Admissions will be there to provide information to help prospective students get started in the right direction. In addition, high school seniors who will graduate in May 2017 will be able to obtain information and register for Tennessee Promise, the State’s last dollar scholarship program.
“The open house is a great opportunity for prospective students to come to campus and hear what CSCC has to offer, both for traditional and non-traditional students, stated Suzanne Bayne, Assistant Director of Enrollment Services for Admissions and Recruitment. “We hope that everyone will take advantage of this unique Saturday opportunity and come and speak with our faculty and staff from departments across campus.”
Participants will have the opportunity to attend some informative sessions including ones on Admissions, Financial Aid/Tennessee Promise, Athletics, etc. Prospective students will also be able to go on a tour of the campus and participate in a mini fair that includes Enrollment Services, Dual Enrollment, Humanities/Social Sciences, Business/Technology, Math/Science, Counseling and Career Services, as well as Service-Learning.
Registration and check-in will take place in the foyer of the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center, and refreshments will be provided. Attendees will have the chance to use computers to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Tennessee Promise application or the CSCC application. Most applications will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete, so participants should arrive with ample time to complete these.
