September 22, 2017 — Since the fall of 2015, approximately 150 students have received the Adult Promise Scholarship at Cleveland State Community College. Adult Promise is a last-dollar scholarship for adults available only at Cleveland State. CSCC to Host Veterans’ Designated Campus Event

September 18, 2017 — Cleveland State Community College will be hosting a celebration to honor the college being recognized as a Veterans’ Designated Campus and as a Veterans’ Reconnect Grant Recipient. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 4 at the Fountain Courtyard outside the George L. Mathis Student Center on the CSCC campus. Cleveland State Faculty Build Learning Communities for Students

September 01, 2017 — A team of faculty and staff from Cleveland State Community College were selected to participate in the National Summer Institute on Learning Communities this summer held at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Eighteen colleges and universities were selected for the institute based on their preparedness to engage in learning community work and other reform movements in higher education. CSCC Advanced Technologies Department Faculty Participates in Summer Professional Development

August 28, 2017 — Faculty members in Cleveland State’s Advanced Technologies Department participated in summer professional development to stay current in their fields and bring opportunities for certification and deeper immersion in industrial technology back to campus for CSCC students. Chuck Barkley, Associate Professor of Engineering Graphics, completed the Cleveland / Bradley Chamber of Commerce Teacher's Academy and a 160 hour internship at Cormetech this summer to increase his expertise in Electrical Design. Charlie Womac, Associate Professor of Industrial Technology, completed a two week Siemens Mechatronics Level I Training. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center Theater. Studer’s presentation is part of a seminar series sponsored by the Greg A. August 11, 2017 — Cleveland State Community College will be hosting its third annual celebrity roast on Thursday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Country Club. The featured guest to be roasted is Steve Hartline, owner of Hartline, LLC which includes radio stations Mix 104.1 and Talk 101.3 The Buzz, where he has been the morning host since 2003. August 10, 2017 — CSCC student Justin Deal recently received a 2017 Point Foundation Scholarship. Out of 2,000 applicants, Deal was one of 52 scholarship recipients total, and only 25 of those were community college scholarship recipients. Packett Chosen as CSCC's New Director of Workforce Development

August 10, 2017 — Scott Packett was recently chosen as the Director of Workforce Development at Cleveland State Community College. Packett is a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College (now Tennessee Wesleyan University) where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science: Sociology and Human Services, and he is currently pursuing his Master’s of Divinity in Pastoral Studies from Southern Theological Seminary. CSCC Begins Recruiting for Inaugural Mechatronics Institute

August 10, 2017 — Cleveland State Community College will begin recruiting students for the inaugural Mechatronics Institute that will begin in the fall of 2018. This new approach for attaining an Associate of Applied Science degree in Mechatronics Technology will be offered to new graduating seniors. Students who have a desire for working in a multi-skilled manufacturing position or may be looking to move into an engineering/STEAM field will be ideal candidates for this program. Students selected for the institute will be working not only in a classroom setting, but supplementing that learning with real-world training in a manufacturing setting while getting paid.
