(Cleveland, Tennessee) – The Business departments of Tennessee Wesleyan University (TWU) and Cleveland State Community College (CSCC) signed a new agreement this week, creating an accelerated process for students to achieve their bachelor’s degree in management. The new deal will make it possible for Cleveland State students to earn their four-year degree all on the CSCC main campus.

The articulation agreement allows students who complete Cleveland State’s Advance Business program to seamlessly transition into TWU’s Management Excellence (ME) program. Both programs are aimed at helping adult students complete their business degrees in flexible formats.

“We’re thrilled to be in partnership with Cleveland State,” said TWU President Dr. Harley Knowles addressing CSCC President Dr. Bill Seymour. “The success rate of your students is quite amazing, so we are always thrilled to get as many Cleveland State folks as possible at our institution.”

The Cleveland State Advance program provides a 16-month path to an Associate of Applied Science in Business for adult students. The ME program, housed in TWU’s Goodfriend School of Business, has a similar design, allowing adult students to complete their bachelor’s degree in management through affordable, flexible classes. The unique partnership allows students to complete both their associate and bachelor’s degrees in as little as 36 months, given the accelerated nature of the programs.

Perhaps the most unique feature of this partnership is the student’s ability to complete the full program on the Cleveland State campus, due to TWU classes being taught at Cleveland’s two-year institution.

“Isn’t that interesting that at this two-year college you can a get a four-year degree by taking our accelerated program and going right on to the program at Tennessee Wesleyan,” said Dr. Seymour, “completing your bachelor’s degree on this (CSCC) campus given the fact that they (TWU) teach on this campus in the evenings?”

“I appreciate all the work that has gone into this from our faculty and staff who have made this arrangement,” added Dr. Seymour. “Dr. Knowles, I appreciate our partnership and all of the great things that we do together.”

“We are proud to be signing another agreement, among many we have with the community college system, particularly at Cleveland State,” concluded Dr. Knowles. “Because the partnership is rich.”
