Spires to Address Graduates at CSCC’s 47th Commencement Ceremony
CLEVELAND, TN. - Approximately 500 students of Cleveland State's class of 2014 will walk across the stage to receive their degrees and certificates during the 47th Commencement Ceremony Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium.
Tim Spires is the President and CEO of the Tennessee Association of Manufacturers and the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
He is a Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) and serves as a Board Member with the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals representing Region 4 consisting of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. He also serves on the NAWDP Executive Committee and is the chair of the Professional Development committee.
He has been a strong advocate for workforce development and education, and was a key member of the team that organized the STEM High School and STEM Innovation Hub in Southeast Tennessee and serves on their Leadership Council. Spires also serves as the Co-Chair of the Pathways to Prosperity Initiative in Southeast Tennessee. Through his work with the Manufacturers Association he serves as the state lead for the National Association of Manufacturers - Manufacturers Skill Certification System.
He currently serves on the faculty of the University of Tennessee - Knoxville, College of Business Administration. His field is Leadership Development and also works one-on-one with executives and physicians working on their MBA. He has also worked as a part-time faculty member at Lee University teaching Business Ethics and Business Communications.
Spires serves on and has been the CVO of several Boards of non-profit organizations including the YMCA, Boy Scouts of America and Rotary. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member of the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, College of Engineering and Computer Science; an Advisory Board Member of the Engineering Technology Department of Chattanooga State; the Business Advisory Council of Lee University and is a member of the Workforce Investment Board of the SE Tennessee Development District.
