We serve families children and adults in ways that improve their quality of life and enable them to become more self-sufficient productive members of the community. The Goals of the Family Violence Program are:
- To provide a reasonably safe and secure shelter accessible 24 hours per day for women and children victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
- To assist women in becoming empowered so that they can pursue a violence free life for themselves and their children.
- To inform and educate the public about the background dynamics intervention strategies and prevention of psychological and physical abuse and sexual assault.
Our Services
- HOTLINE - 24 hours for domestic violence and sexual assault
- SHELTER - Harbor Safe House for those who are abused and presently in dange
- CRISIS COUNSELING - by appointment
- COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROUP COURT ADVOCACY - with orders of protection
- SEXUAL ASSAULT INTERVENTION REFERRALS - to community resources
- COMMUNITY EDUCATION FOLLOWUP - for client
Populations Served: Any victims/survivors of Domestic Violence and/or Rape/Sexual Assault over the age of 18.
Requirements Agency: A minimum of 40 hours initial training with additional training throughout the year a minimum commitment of 8 months service and 4 scheduled hours per week a criminal background check random drug testing
Opportunities: Education on domestic violence, sexual assault, community resources, court advocacy, crisis counseling, hotline procedures, advocacy and empowerment. Volunteers may gain excellent experience working with a nonprofit agency while assisting staff and working with clients.
