Helping Paws, Healing Hearts is a nonprofit program certified through Therapy Dogs International offering educational and therapeutic programs for schools, after-school programs churches, juvenile facilities and Head Start.
How did Helping Paws Healing Hearts Begin?
Amy Hicks has always had a passion for helping others. Her background includes working in mental health and education. She has seen the power of pets in helping children and adults to overcome obstacles and to learn important life lessons. By pairing her passion for helping others and counseling with animal assisted activities, she has founded Helping Paws. Children listen, students maintain the lesson, and adults love the interaction with the dogs.
Amy travels to schools in Tennessee and Georgia with her co-workers, Daryl and Larry. Together, they are having a wonderful time meeting new friends while reaching and teaching children.
