What is Business Administration A.S.?


The Associate of Science in Business Administration is designed as a guide for students who plan to transfer and earn a Bachelor of Science degree at other colleges and universities. This program emphasizes financial and managerial accounting, microeconomics and macroeconomics at this level.

For students wishing to study business but who do not plan to continue for bachelor’s degrees, the Associate of Applied Science degree is available.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of these programs, students will be able to do the following:

  • Explain the role of accounting in business and how accounting information systems are used to gather, summarize, report, and analyze financial data.
  • Perform the steps in the accounting cycle, complying with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Determine the application, interpretation, and financial statement effect of specific accounting methods and procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret financial statements and demonstrate an understanding of managerial accounting concepts and calculations.
  • Analyze and evaluate structures and processes of diverse macroeconomic and microeconomic systems using a variety of basic economic tools and measurements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how economic and political activity influences the behavior of individuals and groups and how, in turn, they influence economic and political activity.
  • Examine the economic theories and research that have formed the basis of microeconomic and macroeconomic policies for two centuries.

What Are My Options to Pay for This Degree?

Apply for financial aid at A student is encouraged to apply early for financial aid and must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the FAFSA Renewal Application as soon as possible after October 1 to ensure that the Financial Aid Office receives the Institutional Student Information Record and other documents prior to the priority deadline. July 1st is the priority deadline for applying for the fall semester and December 1st for the spring semester.
