What is Computer Information Technology, A.A.S.?

EXPECTED HOURS FOR A.A.S. DEGREE: 63

The Computer Information Technology (CIT) program prepares students for high-demand careers in networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and IT support. Students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies while building skills aligned with employer needs. Some required courses are A+ Core 1 and Core 2, Principles of Information Assurance, Introduction to Networking, Windows Server I & II, Cloud Computing, Digital Forensics, and Network Security. Certifications applicable to this program may include CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+, and AWS Cloud Architecting and Cloud Operations among others. 

This is a technical program designed to prepare students for employment. This program is not a transfer program, although many institutions accept all or part of the coursework toward a bachelor’s degree. 

What is Computer Information Technology Certificate?

Program Outcomes for

Computer Information Technology, A.A.S

Upon completion of these program, students will be able to do the following:

  • Utilize diverse disciplines to enhance communication, research, business and technology skills in the workplace.

  • Execute programming languages in the process of design and implementation while developing and maintaining software.

  • Develop effective problem-management and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrate various networking media and connections to explain the features and capabilities of networking software.

  • Demonstrate skill and knowledge in preparation for industry-recognized certification examinations.

What Are My Options to Pay for This Degree?

Apply for financial aid at www.FAFSA.gov. A student is encouraged to apply early for financial aid and must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the FAFSA Renewal Application as soon as possible after October 1 to ensure that the Financial Aid Office receives the Institutional Student Information Record and other documents prior to the priority deadline. July 1st is the priority deadline for applying for the fall semester and December 1st for the spring semester.
