Cleveland State Community College Workforce Development Department announces a new industrial painting pre-apprenticeship program designed to prepare students for an advanced career in the coating industry. Partnering with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), the four-week training begins Monday, July 29, 2024, at the McMinn Higher Education Center (MHEC) in Athens.

The program is a combination of hands-on and online training. Students will earn five nationally recognized industry certifications: OSHA 10, CPR and First Aid, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), Fall Protection Awareness, and Lead Awareness. The certifications can be applied to the IUPAT registered apprenticeship program. 

Funding is available for eligible individuals through local American Job Centers. The deadline to complete the application is Friday, July 12. Personal protective equipment and work boots are included with the training.
