Looking for a career in sports or recreation? Cleveland State Community College is launching a new Sports and Leisure Management program starting this fall. The program is designed to prepare individuals for a successful career in the sports and recreation industry.

Students in this new field of study will earn an associate of science degree. The diverse curriculum includes classes in exercise science, care and prevention of athletic injuries, principles of accounting, safety education/first aid/CPR, fundamentals of communications and more. After completing the program, students will have the opportunity to transfer to a four-year university to complete a bachelor’s degree.

Sandra Godsey, Dean of Business and Healthcare, said, “We are excited to introduce the new Sports and Leisure Management program! This degree is designed to prepare students for the athletic and business aspects of the field.”

With expanding recreation opportunities in Tennessee, the field of sports and leisure management includes positions as fitness and wellness directors, exercise trainers, coaches, recreation teachers, sports officials and more.

Fall registration is going on now, and classes begin on Monday, August 26. For more information on the Sports and Leisure Management program, contact Aaron Bryant, abryant@clevelandstatecc.edu, (423) 473-2445.
