CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Cleveland State Community College will be offering an Adult Learner Open House on Thursday, August 9 from 4-6 p.m. in the George L. Mathis Student Center.
The open house will give adult learners the opportunity to meet some of the staff from the Student Services department on campus as well as other departments. Students will be able to get an early start on completing and wrapping up any last-minute details before the first day of classes.

In addition to the open house, CSCC will also be hosting a variety of Adult Technology Support Sessions.

“The purpose of these sessions is to take the fear factor out of technology for adult learners and empower them in having confidence to be able to save upload and download documents and to know how to navigate the system in general,” stated Natalia Williams, Coordinator of Adult Student Services. “Adult learners should come with their questions and excitement as they will discuss the basics of computer use and discover useful tips in succeeding in myCS courses. The same information will be covered in each session, so students can choose one session that is at a convenient time for them.”

Some of the sessions include:

myCS Courses 101: This session will take a look at the basics of myCS Courses including how to navigate the system, view your grades and understand the functions of the most commonly used tools. This course is offered on Tuesdays, September 11, 25 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. in Room 120 of the CSCC Library and Wednesdays, September 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 2-3 p.m. in Room 120 of the CSCC Library. (Students choose only one session to attend that is convenient for them.)

Basic Computing: This hour-long session is designed to provide a tour of commonly used windows based computer functions. The session will cover basis of computer use, navigating Cleveland State lab computers, save vs. save as, using flash drives, basic keyboard shortcuts. Day sessions include July 31, August 14 and 28 in Room 120 of the CSCC Library and evening sessions on August 7, 21 from 5-6 p.m. in Room 120 of the CSCC Library. (Students choose only one session to attend that is convenient for them.)
