CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Cleveland State Community College will be hosting a Reconnect Information Session on Tuesday, March 19 from 5-7 p.m. at the Athens Center and Tuesday, March 26 at the main campus.

Starting in the fall of 2018, Tennessee Reconnect is a scholarship for adults to earn an associate degree or technical certificate, tuition-free. To be eligible for the Tennessee Reconnect scholarship, you must:

            ●          Not already have an associate or bachelor’s degree
            ●          Have been a Tennessee resident for at least one year
            ●          Be determined as an independent student on the FAFSA

“During this session, attendees can learn more about the Tennessee Reconnect scholarship that covers eligible adults’ tuition to all programs at CSCC and other affordable educational opportunities, such as Pell grants and the college’s institutional scholarships, but the effort is more than just promoting the scholarship program,” stated Natalia Williams, Coordinator of Adult Student Services. “It includes addressing questions adult learners may have, from receiving credit for work experience to the uncertainty of returning to a school environment.”

According to Williams, other efforts will include applying for admissions, sharing services available to military veterans, and CSCC’s transcript analyst will be on hand to answer students’ questions about transfer credit if they have coursework from another college/university or how to go about requesting their high school transcripts.

Cleveland State has recently added many new and convenient scheduling options that are specifically designed for adult students, such as weekend and evening classes, as well as block scheduling.

In addition, dates for information sessions have been set for April at all sites. On Tuesday, April 9 from 4-6, there will be one at the Monroe County Center from 4-6 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 16 from 5-7 at the Athens Center, and on Tuesday, April 30 from 5-7 on the main campus in Cleveland.
