Jaggers Chosen as the 2021 Community First Award Honoree for Healthcare

August 30, 2021 — As a nation, we look back and realize all of those who are on the frontlines fighting to save others from COVID-19. Many of those people are nationally recognized doctors, nurses, and scientists. Cleveland State Community College wants to recognize the community healthcare workers who sacrificed so much to ensure the safety in their own neighborhoods. Dr. John S. Jaggers is one doctor in the Bradley County community that has sacrificed and served others during the pandemic to make sure the integrity of his community was not taken by the pandemic. For this reason and his dedication as a pulmonologist, Jaggers has been chosen as the 2021 Community First Awards Honoree for Healthcare. Fox Chosen As Community First Award Honoree for Education

August 16, 2021 — One of the hardest aspects of change people had to learn during the pandemic was social distancing. Like other community colleges and universities around the world, Cleveland State faced the challenge of giving students, faculty, and staff access to education and operational needs while maintaining a safe distance from each other. As the Vice President Finance and Chief Operating Officer, Alisha Fox accepted that challenge and made it her duty to restore efficiency and access for anyone connected with CSCC during the pandemic. 2021 Community First Award Honoree for Arts: Rick Norton

August 02, 2021 — As a voice for the public, writers and journalists carry the duty to report on the events in society and the community. Rick Norton has not only upheld his duty to his career, but also gives his community the words of hope, truth, and courage to cope with the changing times. When the pandemic changed the lives of the world, Norton stepped up to deliver life-saving information to a community he has loved and served for many years at the Cleveland Daily Banner. Grand Opening for CSCC's Athens Location - The McMinn Higher Education Center

June 14, 2021 — Cleveland State Community College is celebrating its grand opening of the McMinn Higher Education Center (MHEC) located at 2345 Denso Drive in Athens. This center will be a location for students in McMinn County to complete their degrees without traveling to the Cleveland campus. This is the second new building to be dedicated for Cleveland State in the last three months after 46 years. Boys And Girls Club Program Resumes At Cleveland State Community College

June 14, 2021 — Since the pandemic, many programs and events were limited or canceled in regards to the community’s safety against COVID-19. CSCC is proud to announce that one of our most valuable programs is returning this summer. Starting June 1, The Boys and Girls Club of the Ocoee Region (BGCOR) will be back and operating at Cleveland State Community College. The goal for BGCOR is for the youth to continue life with a growth mindset continuing their education via College/University, Vocation/Trade, and or the Military. Derrick Kinsey, Chief Executive Officer for BGCOR, believes the partnership with CSCC helps youth in the community grow stronger and build successful relationships.
