The Cleveland State Community College Foundation makes it a goal to connect alumni with students for educational opportunities and to efforts to uphold the college’s mission. One of those aspects is providing students with resources they need to thrive. First Horizon Foundation has partnered with the CSCC Foundation to make that happen. The college announces that the foundation has donated $10,000 toward a five-year community partnership.

“Cleveland State appreciates the support from First Horizon, which has helped the college to both impact the lives of students and strengthen our relationships with alumni,” stated John Squires, Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and Executive Director for Advancement and Planning for CSCC. “First Horizon has been a valuable partner in the college's efforts for many years, and their contributions have made a difference in people's lives within the community and region.”

This year, the money will be used for three different initiatives to benefit the college.

The Cleveland State Alumni Legacy Scholarship will be awarded $4,000. This is a new scholarship that started in April of this year. Three scholarships were given to high school students who are children of alumni. These students plan to attend CSCC in the fall.

Approximately $2,000 will be given to the Cleveland State Alumni Community Program. The program benefits from this donation by allowing the college to purchase alumni paraphernalia, promotional give-always, and other marketing items that will reach and raise awareness about the Alumni Community.

The Cleveland State Legacy Luncheon will receive $4,000 from this donation. This event will be held in September. It will celebrate the CSCC nursing program legacy throughout the community. Nursing alumni will be able to tour and celebrate the new Health and Science Center that now houses CSCC’s nursing program. The Health and Science Center opened in May of this year. It was the first new building for the college in over 46 years.

The five-year partnership is in its third year, but First Horizon and the college’s foundation have a decades-long relationship.

“Dr. Seymour and his faculty continue to impress as the school is always looking for ways to improve the educational offerings and experience,” stated  Bill Martin, Market President for First Horizon. “They are great stewards of the Foundation funds, and I am consistently pleased to see and hear about how they are put to use. Our community benefits greatly by the presence of such an excellent, growing institution. It is our honor to contribute to the success of Cleveland State Community College.”
