Mary T. Barker Humanities Building Open After Renovations

September 16, 2021 — This fall semester, Cleveland State Community College students are able to experience the newly renovated Mary T. Barker Humanities Building. The Humanities renovation was part of the college’s revitalization project. The total project cost was $25 Million with $2.5 Million allocated from fundraising and $22.5 Million from state funding. Sumner Chosen as 2021 Community First Award Honoree for Public Service

August 23, 2021 — It takes much dedication and discipline to keep a city safe and educated about the many resources available in their backyard. Being raised in Athens, Seth Sumner takes his job duties as City Manager with pride. As the pandemic started to invoke fear and challenges into our everyday lives, he took it as an opportunity to grow stronger with his community through providing factual information, resources, and safety for others. Through his many efforts and projects during the pandemic, Cleveland State has awarded him with the Community First Award for Public Service. Fox Chosen As Community First Award Honoree for Education

August 16, 2021 — One of the hardest aspects of change people had to learn during the pandemic was social distancing. Like other community colleges and universities around the world, Cleveland State faced the challenge of giving students, faculty, and staff access to education and operational needs while maintaining a safe distance from each other. As the Vice President Finance and Chief Operating Officer, Alisha Fox accepted that challenge and made it her duty to restore efficiency and access for anyone connected with CSCC during the pandemic. Ladd Chosen As Community First Award Honoree for Non-Profit Leadership

August 09, 2021 — During the pandemic, many businesses and organizations found themselves questioning how to serve their community. 2021 Community First Award Honoree for Arts: Rick Norton

August 02, 2021 — As a voice for the public, writers and journalists carry the duty to report on the events in society and the community. Rick Norton has not only upheld his duty to his career, but also gives his community the words of hope, truth, and courage to cope with the changing times. When the pandemic changed the lives of the world, Norton stepped up to deliver life-saving information to a community he has loved and served for many years at the Cleveland Daily Banner.
