CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Three Cleveland State nursing students were recently inducted into Cleveland State’s Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Nu, the honor society for Associate degree nurses.

Cleveland State’s Beta Omicron Chapter of Alpha Delta Nu, the honor society of the National Association for Associate degree nurses, was chartered in 2012 and has now inducted over 70 members. Students must meet stringent requirements to qualify for admission into this honor society including attaining at least a 3.0 overall GPA including nursing courses, demonstrating conduct on campus and in the clinical areas reflecting integrity and professionalism, and completing a capstone project.

“It is encouraging to watch our students grow into competent entry-level nurse graduates,” stated Dr. Sonya Franklin, Associate Professor of Nursing / Simulation/Clinical Coordinator.

“Honors students truly demonstrate the leaders of each class.”

Dr. Joanie Jackson, Associate Professor and DNP / Nursing Program Coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing, was the keynote speaker for the occasion. Jackson received her DNP with a Forensic Nursing focus from UTHSC in Memphis. Her professional experience is clinically based as a Family Nurse Practitioner and includes practice in clinic, hospital, and mobile applications. Jackson’s current tenured faculty position is teaching, serving on the HRSA ANEW CANDL grant, and clinical practice. She has many presentations to local, regional, and national conferences. She does clinical practice each week at the Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse System inpatient facility.

Nancy Thomas, Director of the CSCC Nursing program, stated, “We are proud of these students and their accomplishments, and we are pleased to recognize the excellence they have demonstrated in their nursing studies.”
