Service-Learning Home

Service-Learning facilitates an exchange of ideas, learning, and hands-on experience to mutually benefit our students, and our community.  Service opportunities are structured to help students acquire a sense of civic and social responsibility, learn about their community, apply classroom learning, expand their skills, and reflect on their experiences. At the same time, Cleveland State hopes that the service of student volunteers will assist with many needs in our community.  Curriculum includes structured field based experiential learning alongside community partners, which reinforces learning outcomes and strengthens communities.

Cleveland State Community College is committed to providing its students with opportunities for experiential learning through community service activities during their collegiate experience. A number of courses at the college incorporate service-learning activities, providing students with opportunity to connect what they are learning in the classroom with service in the community. In addition, the college has introduced new service-learning courses that students may select to take for elective credit.

Service-Learning Department Mission: We collaborate with faculty and community partners to combine academic concepts with experiential learning, provide students the opportunity for a heightened educational experience, and increase civic awareness across various community populations.
